15 He [Christ] disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

Dear River Family,

As you and I approach Passion Week, this verse from Colossians 2:15 reminds us of the profound significance of the Cross in our faith. It is through the Cross of Christ that principalities and powers were disarmed, and a public spectacle was made of them. This victorious act triumphed over the forces of darkness, demonstrating the power and authority of Christ.

The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:7-8 how God's wisdom, displayed through the blood and death of His Son, completely confounded the strategies of hell. Yes, church, the Cross of our Savior stands as the sole instrument for humanity's salvation and deliverance, breaking the works and operations of hell. Its power remains unmatched and unchallenged.

Dear friends, I believe that these words serve as a sacred reminder for all of us who seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit in our lives. They point us to the source from which all power flows. Just as Jesus is the conduit through whom God's power is manifested, the Cross is the foundational accomplishment that releases this power to mankind.

And so, unquestionably, the Cross holds a special place of significance. It is where the price of salvation was paid and the penalty of sin was broken. It is also the place where hell was made a spectacle of, and it is the symbol by which you conquer. As the old hymn asks, "Are you living in the shadow of the Cross?" I pray that, along with me, your resounding answer is, "Amen!"

May the Lord encourage you today is my prayer. I look forward to worshiping with you this Palm Sunday.

In His love and blessing,

Pastor Rod
